One More American Record Falls on Final Night of Trials Mon, 7 Jul 2008 12:14:15 -0600 An American record fell Sunday evening on the final night of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Swimming when Dara Torres (Los Angeles, Calif.) lowered her own mark in the 50m freestyle. Torres qualified in her second individual event with the win in front of a crowd of 7,723 at the Qwest Center Omaha with a time of 24.25.

One world, three American records fall on seventh night of Trials Sat, 5 Jul 2008 21:33:14 -0600 One world and three American records were broken Saturday at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Swimming. In addition, Michael Phelps and Katie Hoff picked up their fifth wins of the week in front of a crowd of 13,717 at the Qwest Center Omaha.

Phelps, Peirsol set world records on sixth night of Trials Fri, 4 Jul 2008 22:24:32 -0600 One world record was broken and another tied Friday at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Swimming. First, Aaron Peirsol of Longhorn Aquatics tied the world record in the mens 200m back, turning in a time of 1:54.32. Then Michael Phelps of Club Wolverine broke his own world record in the mens 200m IM in 1:54.80.

Spann pulls off shocker at Trials Thu, 3 Jul 2008 22:14:38 -0600 In what might turn out to be the biggest upset of the meet, Scott Spann won the mens 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:09.97 Thursday at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Swimming, defeating American record-holder and Longhorn Aquatics teammate Brendan Hansen in the process.

Two more wins, two American records for Hoff on fourth day of Trials Thu, 3 Jul 2008 22:14:19 -0600 Katie Hoff of the North Baltimore Aquatic Club won two more events and set two American records Wednesday at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Swimming, finishing first in the womens 200m free (1:55.88) and 200m IM (2:09.71). Club Wolverines Michael Phelps also brought home a win in the 200m butterfly with a U.S. Open record of 1:52.20.

Coughlin, Peirsol set world records on Day 3 of Trials Wed, 2 Jul 2008 08:57:25 -0600 Two world records and a U.S. Open record fell Tuesday at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Swimming. Natalie Coughlin of California Aquatics and Aaron Peirsol of Longhorn Aquatics treated the crowd of 12,559 at the Qwest Center Omaha to back-to-back world records in the womens and mens 100m back, turning in times of 58.97 and 52.89, respectively.

Hoff wins second event on Day 2 of Trials Wed, 2 Jul 2008 08:56:07 -0600 North Baltimore Aquatic Clubs Katie Hoff won her second event of the meet Monday at 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Swimming, qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Team in the womens 400m freestyle. The University of Tennessees Christine Magnuson and Longhorn Aquatics Brendan Hansen also qualified for the Olympic Team, winning the womens 100m butterfly and mens 100m breaststroke, respectively.

Crippen, Fabian win 5K open water titles Fri, 30 May 2008 14:48:56 -0600 Fran Crippen of Mission Viejo Nadadores (pictured left) won the mens title today at the USA Swimming 5K Open Water National Championships in Fort Myers, Fla. His time was 55 minutes, 54.5 seconds. Thirteen-year-old Eva Fabian of Greenwood Memorial Swim Club took the womens race, finishing in 1 hour, 2 minutes and 6.2 seconds.
