2009 Athlete Representative Election    07/01/2009
Who: One male and one female. At the time of the election the Athlete Representative must be a currently registered athlete, be at least 16 years old or a sophomore in high school, currently competing and expect to reside in Colorado for the two year team.

What: Elections to vote for the 2009 Athlete Rep for Colorado Swimming

When: 2009 Long Course State Meet

Why: The one male and one female will represent the Colorado Swimmers on the CSI board. It’s a great experience and allows you to see into what really goes on behind the scenes. Must be willing to attend meetings and be involved with decisions made by the board.

How: Let Janet Kralik know you are interested and get your questions answered at j.kralik@comcast.net. Once confirmed, you can get ready for the elections by making posters to hang in the pool area, and let people know how, when and who to vote for.

We will take nominations before and at the Long Course State Meet on Thursday and Friday with voting on Saturday all day and Sunday morning.

After a long and thought-out decision making process, Colorado Swimming has awarded both Carley Shumate and Bryce Suchomel the Hale Adams Memorial Scholarships for the class of 2009. Both of these swimmers proved to be very worthy of the allotted $1000 scholarship and we would like to thank all of the swimmers who applied - this was a very hard decision and all of you have worked so hard. Keep up the hard work with whatever education you are pursuing.

Bryce Suchomel from Colorado Stars plans to attend Bucknell University in Lewisberg, PA Neuroscience major.

Carley Shumate from the Falfins is planning to attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology majoring in Biomedical Engineering

Revised FINA/USA Swimming Approved Suit List…    06/23/2009
Statement from USA Swimming President Jim Wood on the FINA Swimsuit Ruling - USA Swimming stands firm in its desire to preserve the integrity of the sport, and for that reason, we will continue to push for stricter restrictions on swimsuit technology. We are highly disappointed by the FINA ruling released Monday, but in order to keep USA Swimming’s rules in compliance with those of the international governing body, we will immediately adopt the revised list of approved swimsuits. Moving forward, we encourage FINA to carefully examine this matter in order to ensure the best possible future for our sport.

USA Swimming adopts revised FINA-approved list (6/23/2009)
Based on FINA’s ruling Monday, USA Swimming will adopt as legal in general competition, all suits included on the revised FINA-approved list. The list published Monday includes an additional 198 suits, which have been added to the original 202 that were approved. Additional requirements regarding availability of swimsuits will still apply for the 2009 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships. More information on this topic is forthcoming.

I've been advised that the on-line tests will be reactivated by the end of the day Saturday, May 30th. These tests will include the updates for the 2009 rule book. We apologize that the editing for the changes took as long as it did but we wanted to be sure we had all the questions and answers correct before reactivating the tests. We appreciate your patience.
